Inspiration roundup #7

I'm suprised I've managed to keep this that updated, but it's nice having a place to post some of the things I find trawling the internet in my boredom looking for inspiration. To cut a long story short, here's post #7:

Space Alphabet print by Fify-Five Hi's: http://www.55his.com/products/space-alphabet

Recycled Vinyl record glasses by Vinylize: http://www.vinylize.com/

Animal illustrations/paintings by Amy Hamilton: http://amyhamilton.ca/

Inspiration roundup #6

So, time for part 6 in this series then! I've been in a bit more of a creative mood recently, with a few ideas for some projects in my mind. Nothing has come out of it yet, but some of the things I have found for this post have made me think about pursuing a few ideas a bit further. For now, here's post number 6:

The Hipster Logo design guide. So bloody accurate, how many times have I seen this type of logo? (though I am slightly guilty of some parts of this): http://hipsterlogo.com/

Emerging from the logos by Yoni Alter. Amazing set of prints of Formula 1 cars stripped down to their advertising: http://www.yoniishappy.com/Emerging-from-the-logos-1

Incarnate (Three Degrees of Certanty II) by Maskull Lasserre. Carving a book into the shape of a skull must be time consuming, but it looks wonderful: http://maskulllasserre.com/artwork/2501867_Incarnate_Three_Degrees_of_Certainty_II.html

Photogenic Alchemy by Michael Cetta. Experimenting in the developing process by adding, amongst other things, absinthe and turpentine. The effects are striking: http://www.synapseshots.com/photogenicalchemy/

Inspiration roundup #5

So, unfortunately I missed a posting last Friday. Blame going on holiday and having to catch up on a lot of work to do! Hopefully this post will make up for it though, with some treats for the eyes.

Art by Sam Yong. I like some of his sketchwork in his portfolio, and nice work showing progression via his blog: http://inthewolf.com/

Retro Gals: Mods & Rockers. A series of prints and t-shirts by a few artists. I'm really liking the style!: http://www.familytreedesign.net/

Here's a bit of an oddity: A catalogue from 1890 of designs for what was to be the Great Tower of London (in response to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France). Most are straight rip-offs, but with some insane ideas (think of hanging gardens and the ilk!): http://publicdomainreview.org/2012/07/16/catalogue-of-the-68-competitive-designs-for-the-great-tower-for-london-1890/

Inspiration roundup #4

Wow....i've actually managed to keep this going! It makes a change to be regularly blogging like this, and i'm actually quite enjoying sharing all these little things I find that make me think about doing more creative projects! I'm actually off to Portugal for a week after this post, so it'll be nice to have a short break (but not from finding inspiring things!). Here are the selections for post #4:

Stateside Maps by These Are Things. I love the aesthetic of these, reminds me of classic 1950's/60's advertising posters. Might have to invest in a few of them!: http://shop.thesearethings.com/collections/state-maps

Silence/Shapes by Filippo Minelli. Beautiful series of pictures using smoke bombs linked with architecture/nature. A nice juxtaposition: http://www.filippominelli.com/silenceshapes/

Poisoned Loaf poster by Blackbird. Love this so much, makes me want to get out the pen and ink more: http://playwho.com/shopmark/14366/poisoned-loaf-poster

Eiterquellen by Stefan Fuertbauer. A series of photos about Viennese wurstel diners and the Viennese fast food culture: http://www.fuertbauer.net/projects/eiterquellen/

Inspiration roundup #3

So here we are, post number 3 in the series. There's a couple more things in this post than normal, but there's so many things I want to show that I think it's allowable! Anyway, here's this time's selection:

Analogue Memory Desk by Kirsten Kamara. I could really do with one of these for my incessant drawing: http://www.kcamara.com/ANALOG-MEMORY-DESK

Android Mini Collectables Rainbow set by Dead Zebra. I might have to invest in these, too!: http://www.deadzebra.com/projects/android-mini-collectibles-rainbow-set/

Bisous Les Copains by Guillaume Kurkdjian. Beautiful, subtle animated gifs: http://www.defringe.com/bisous-les-copains/

Ikea Smycke wall clock. Customise the shapes how you want: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80232223/

John Ashcroft's spot illustrations for the Atlantic. Nice, simple design: http://jonashcroft.com/The-Atlantic

Inspiration roundup #2

So, since part 1 of this blog went quite well, it's time to do part 2! I'll be carrying this on as a fortnightly post for the time being and looking to post around 4 different things at least, but if there's anything that crops up in-between then I may do an irregular post every now and again. So, here's this issue's roundup:

The World of 100 by Tony Ng. Nice set of posters based on if the population of the world were a village of 100 people: http://www.toby-ng.com/graphic-design/the-world-of-100/

Delayed Gratification Magazine, the world's first slow journalism magazine. Looks at events that have happened in the past 3 months, released quarterly. I'll definitely be setting up a subscription!: http://www.dgquarterly.com/

Nahoko Kojima's paper cut sculptures: http://www.solokojima.com/nahoko-kojimas-paper-cut-sculptures/

I am in love with this chandelier by Hilden & Diaz: http://piodiaz.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/forms-in-nature/

Inspiration roundup

Every so often I come across little websites and projects that I keep in a list to look at later. I thought I should probably start utilising them, so now I'm going to do a small entry every so often (probably at least once a month) of the things that I've looked at recently. So, for the inaugural post, here we go!

Zoo Portraits by Yago Partial: http://www.zooportraits.com/

Design and Paper, all about....well...Design and Paper!: http://www.designandpaper.com/

Felt Taxidermy by Kiyoshi Mino: http://www.kiyoshimino.com/
